Dionyá Jackson, diagnosed at 23
I was always the “sick child” growing up. At 22, my body began swelling. My joints caused me great pain, and it became difficult to walk. I didn’t understand how all these ailments came together until 2016 when I found it difficult to breathe. After 3 different doctors visits and multiple tests, I was finally diagnosed with lupus in 2016 at age 23. Since my diagnosis, I’ve been trying to focus on the things that I CAN control, such as my healthy eating and active lifestyle. I try my best to eliminate stress and stay grounded in my faith and support system.
